[Software] Error: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)?

Folks:

A couple of questions about my Sid install . . . ran an apt dist-upgrade this morning and got that "Error: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)" . . . I ran an "apt -f install" and a 'dpkg --configure -a" and neither of them cleared the error. Ran an "autoremove" and "autoclean" etc . . . and still get:

Code:

$ sudo apt dist-upgradeSummary: Upgrading: 0, Installing: 0, Removing: 0, Not Upgrading: 0 2 not fully installed or removed. Space needed: 0 B / 38.8 GB availableContinue? I went over to synaptic and clicked on "fix dependencies" . . . which is quickly and cheerfully claimed "all is fixed," but I don't think it is. In the dist-upgrade was I believe a kernel upgrade to 6.12.19?? Running uname -r shows that I still am running 5.10.0 . . . checking in the kernels section of synaptic shows I have 5.10 installed AND 6.12.17 plus its meta-package is installed. I thought that dbus has some significance to the system, but I rebooted out of Sid and over to my grub controller/osprober system and updated the bootloader.

When I cold booted I checked in Sid's grub "advanced options" and only the 5.10 kernel is showing??? I'd like to be able to boot the newer kernel in Sid, so I can test it against the kernel's in my Tumbleweed install, where 6.12.6 is the last kernel that will revive my display from suspend, but seemingly grub is not finding Sid's 6.12.17 offering???

I had a similar thread here asking about "How to get a newer kernel than 5.10" . . . and got the "It's the META package!!!!" . . . meaning it was missing, but in synaptic the meta-package for 6.12.17 is installed, but it ain't showing up in action???
