[Software] Conky, (or Alternatives) User Experience

I noticed most posts here talking about Conky are a bit old, a few years back.

I am interested in Conky, especially that button/widget on my KDE toolbar that shows the basic stats of my system especially:
- CPUs usage
- RAM used
- Internet speed
- Power/battery status
- Any other useful stuff

I am wondering if I should really install Conky to get the above?
Are there other alternatives perhaps with the default installation? How to?

I know there is system monitor, but having an icon showing the 4 mentioned above just looking at the tool bar is more "practical" perhaps.

I will appreciate feed back from Conky users or user of any other widgets.
