Hi all.
If a question of this sort has been answered previously, and you know the link, please just drop it and I will read through.
I've had a read through several previous threads already.
Firstly, I am guilty of currently using MX on my somewhat sacrifical desktop, but I guess (wrongly perhaps?) MX uses most (possibly all) of the same default repos as debian,
and so feel this is probably more of a general use debian / apt / dpkg question.
If not, please move to appropriate forum.

Gwenview's latest upgrade is complete garbage.
It has completely removed all keyboard accelerator menu shortcuts and navigations (eg. alt+(underlined character option) -- and other functionality --
and has opted for a much "simpler" ie. far less useful and far-more mouse-driven interface for navigating menus etc.
(No idea what developers are thinking).
This has killed my workflow in using the program.
I would obviously like to downgrade it.
I have tried:
sudo apt install gwenview=(previous version numbers)
and
sudo apt-get install gwenview=(previous version numbers)
...and tried inserting various version numbers, but bash / apt / dpkg reports each time that the various version numbers do not exist.
I have tried...
*(ie. blindly and pathetically flailed, like the n00b I am)
...a number of means of displaying what version numbers exist in the default repos,
such as:
**********
dpkg-query -S gwenview
apt-cache madison gwenview
apt list -a gwenview
sudo apt list -a gwenview
sudo apt install gwenview=20.12.0
sudo apt install gwenview=20.11
sudo apt-get install gwenview=20.11
sudo apt-get install gwenview=20.11.0
sudo apt remove gwenview
sudo apt install gwenview=20.11.0
dpkg-query -S gwenview
apt policy gwenview
apt-cache gwenview
apt-cache search gwenview
apt-cache pkgnames gwenview
apt-cache show gwenview
apt-cache showpkg gwenview
apt list -a gwenview
*********
No matter what I try, it seems the only version of gwenview which is available to install is the current version (20.12.3).
...Much sad!
Any help greatly appreciated,
link dumps are fine.
I have read through a few debian forum threads.
I am hoping I won't have to add and remove sources as here
viewtopic.php?p=401563&hilit=no+previou ... de#p401563
or perhaps here :
viewtopic.php?p=706518&hilit=downgrade+package#p706518
...and potentially end up in some form of dependency-hell.
Right now, I'm on a short timeline to sort photos so I can sell / give-away etc my household goods and effects online, so I am hoping to not have to muck around too much with sources / dependencies.
...With that said, I'll do whatever it takes.
Can't stand what they've done to my favourite image organizing/sorting/viewing/all-purpose program.
Cheers!
